OpenClaw v2026.2.6 Enhances Security and Model Support

OpenClaw v2026.2.6 Enhances Security and Model Support

Posted on February 7, 2026 By CWS

OpenClaw v2026.2.6 has been released, introducing significant security improvements and support for new models. This update comes as a response to the increasing concerns regarding malicious activities within its ecosystem.

Key Features in the Latest Release

Launched on February 7, 2026, the new version of OpenClaw, an open-source framework for AI agents, brings a host of enhancements. These include compatibility with Anthropic’s Opus 4.6 and OpenAI’s GPT-5.3-Codex models, alongside xAI Grok integration to ensure forward compatibility.

The update also introduces a web interface token usage dashboard and native Voyage AI memory support, enhancing user experience. Additionally, session history payloads are now capped to avoid context overflow issues.

Security Enhancements and Developer Updates

One of the major highlights of this release is the introduction of a skill and plugin code safety scanner. This tool is designed to redact credentials from configuration responses, thereby reducing the risk of data leaks. Developers have also implemented authentication requirements for Gateway canvas hosts and A2UI assets, and have bolstered Control UI asset handling.

The update includes improvements in cron scheduling, with robust timer re-arming to address previous regressions. Exec approvals now convert string allowlists into objects for enhanced security.

Addressing Ecosystem Vulnerabilities

This update follows a series of reports identifying 283-341 malicious or vulnerable skills in ClawHub, OpenClaw’s marketplace. Issues such as credential stealers for macOS and Windows have been highlighted. A study by Snyk indicated that 7.1% of nearly 4,000 skills mishandle sensitive information, leading to potential vulnerabilities.

Security experts recommend isolating OpenClaw instances and conducting thorough code audits, especially given its wide access to sensitive applications and data. The Chinese Ministry of Industry has also issued warnings about cyber threats arising from misconfigurations.

Future Prospects and Community Feedback

While OpenClaw’s persistent memory and proactive notifications offer powerful automation capabilities, they also present security challenges. The safety scanner aims to inspect ClawHub submissions, with possible collaborations with VirusTotal to ensure marketplace integrity.

Despite these challenges, the OpenClaw community continues to grow, with users praising its autonomy and capabilities in areas like DevOps and smart home management. As AI technology advances, the proactive measures in version v2026.2.6 are a step towards ensuring a secure and efficient ecosystem.
