Kevin Mandia’s Armadin Secures 0 Million for AI Cybersecurity

Kevin Mandia’s Armadin Secures $190 Million for AI Cybersecurity

Posted on March 10, 2026 By CWS

Kevin Mandia, renowned for founding Mandiant, which was sold to FireEye for $1 billion in 2014 and subsequently acquired by Google for $5.4 billion, has embarked on a new venture with the launch of Armadin. The San Francisco-based company has announced its public debut with a substantial $189.9 million raised in Seed and Series A funding.

AI-Powered Cyber Defense

Armadin aims to transform cybersecurity through the use of AI-driven red teaming, a method that simulates real-world cyberattacks to identify vulnerabilities. This approach mirrors the tactics employed by malicious actors, thereby enhancing the company’s defensive capabilities.

The investment round was spearheaded by Accel and saw participation from notable investors such as Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Menlo Ventures, and In-Q-Tel. Additionally, 8VC and Ballistic Ventures contributed with follow-on investments, marking this as one of the largest funding rounds in cybersecurity history.

Leadership and Vision

The startup, initially revealed in late 2025 with a seed of $24 million, has now formally introduced its leadership team. Kevin Mandia serves as the CEO, alongside co-founders Travis Lanham as CTO, Evan Peña as Chief Offensive Security Officer, and David Slater as Chief Architect. The team is poised to deliver a sophisticated security solution designed to counter advanced cyber threats.

Mandia envisions a future where cyberattacks are predominantly AI-driven, characterized by their speed and precision. To counteract these threats, Armadin is developing autonomous defense mechanisms that operate at machine speed, eliminating the need for human intervention in every security decision.

Innovative Approach to Cybersecurity

Armadin’s strategy involves deploying a team of expert red teamers and AI researchers to build a platform capable of conducting AI-directed offensive operations. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between traditional cybersecurity measures and the evolving nature of cyber threats. The company’s autonomous attacker swarm is designed to match the agility of sophisticated cyber adversaries, offering a robust defense.

CTO Travis Lanham highlighted the groundbreaking nature of Armadin’s technology, emphasizing its ability to simulate nation-state level threats continuously. The company’s AI models are trained to operate at the caliber of elite red teams, identifying risks at unprecedented speeds while ensuring safety remains a top priority.

In conclusion, Armadin is set to redefine the cybersecurity landscape by leveraging AI to create a formidable defense against increasingly complex cyber threats. As the digital world braces for a new era of AI-driven attacks, Mandia’s vision offers a proactive approach to safeguarding national security.
