Anthropic Unveils Claude Fable 5: Secure Mythos-Class AI

Anthropic Unveils Claude Fable 5: Secure Mythos-Class AI

Posted on June 9, 2026 By CWS

Anthropic has introduced Claude Fable 5, a Mythos-class AI model designed with enhanced security features to prevent misuse in high-risk areas, particularly cybersecurity. This marks a significant step as it is the first model of its class available for public and developer access with such rigorous safety measures.

Advanced AI with Safety Measures

Claude Fable 5 showcases impressive advancements in software engineering, knowledge work, and vision tasks. Despite its enhanced capabilities, Anthropic has prioritized safety by integrating specific restrictions. In areas prone to misuse, such as cybersecurity and biology, the model reverts to the less advanced Claude Opus 4.8 to ensure safe usage. Initial usage data highlights that the vast majority of sessions, over 95%, operate solely on Fable 5’s capabilities without necessitating a fallback.

The potential value of Mythos-level capabilities to adversaries, particularly in cyberattacks, prompted Anthropic to implement these safety measures. The company conducted thorough internal and external testing, including a bug bounty program, which did not uncover any critical vulnerabilities.

Collaborations and Expansions

On the same day, Anthropic revealed that Project Glasswing partners will be upgraded to Claude Mythos 5, moving from the previous Claude Mythos Preview. This upgrade is part of a strategic, structured program aimed at expanding high-privilege access. Anthropic has recently announced the expansion of Project Glasswing to include approximately 150 additional organizations.

Although the specific names of these new partners have not been disclosed, several prominent cybersecurity and tech companies have announced their involvement. These include Dragos, Tenable, TrendAI (Trend Micro), Netskope, BeyondTrust, Rubrik, BT, Intercontinental Exchange, and Hitachi.

Accessibility and Pricing

Both Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models are priced at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. The Claude API offers immediate access for developers to utilize Fable 5’s capabilities.

This launch underscores Anthropic’s commitment to advancing AI technology while maintaining strict safety protocols. As the company continues to expand its partnerships and improve its models, it emphasizes the importance of balancing innovation with security.

With these developments, Anthropic sets a precedent in the AI industry for responsibly deploying powerful technology. The future of AI safety and accessibility continues to evolve as more organizations join the initiative, highlighting the significant role of collaboration in advancing secure AI applications.
