Global Call for Cybersecurity Grants by Internet Society

The Internet Society Foundation has announced a new opportunity for nonprofit organizations to enhance global cybersecurity through its Common Good Cyber Fund (CGCF). Applications for this multi-year funding program opened on June 23, 2026, and will close on August 4, 2026. The initiative aims to bolster civil society by providing an estimated 15 two-year grants, totaling at least USD $3.5 million.

Expanding Cybersecurity Efforts

This funding call represents the next step in the Common Good Cyber Fund’s lifecycle, following its initial launch in 2025, where six grants addressed critical gaps in global cybersecurity. The CGCF is a part of the larger Safer Internet Initiative, which seeks to ensure safe and secure Internet access. From 2026 to 2029, over USD $40 million will be invested in programs promoting a secure Internet environment, supported by the Internet Society and donor partners.

Supporting Nonprofit Cybersecurity Work

Sally Wentworth, President and CEO of the Internet Society and its Foundation, underscores the importance of nonprofits in maintaining a secure online civic space. However, these organizations often face financial constraints. The CGCF aims to provide resources to nonprofits focusing on essential areas such as maintaining critical cybersecurity infrastructure, securing Internet users from digital harm, and advancing safer Internet practices for vulnerable groups.

A Collaborative International Initiative

The Internet Society Foundation manages the CGCF with input from the Common Good Cyber Ecosystem Committee and a Strategic Advisory Committee. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving contributions from various governments and organizations, including Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Craig Newmark Philanthropies, and the Internet Society. This collective approach highlights a shared global commitment to cybersecurity as a public good.
