SecurityWeek Unveils Critical Impact Awards for Cybersecurity

SecurityWeek Unveils Critical Impact Awards for Cybersecurity

Posted on July 21, 2026 By CWS

SecurityWeek has introduced the Critical Impact Awards, a prestigious program aimed at acknowledging significant contributions and innovations in the field of industrial cybersecurity. The winners will be revealed during the 2026 ICS Cybersecurity Conference, scheduled for October 6–8, 2026, at the W Nashville, marking the event’s 25th anniversary.

Ensuring Credibility and Trust

The Critical Impact Awards stand apart from many industry recognition programs that often rely on financial contributions. These awards are based on merit and are determined by an independent judging panel who evaluate nominations against clear criteria. SecurityWeek emphasizes that sponsorships do not affect the results, ensuring the awards’ integrity and making them a credible benchmark in the cybersecurity industry.

Mike Lennon, Managing Director at SecurityWeek, highlighted the importance of this initiative. He noted, “In the cybersecurity realm, especially within industrial and critical infrastructure sectors, recognition should be earned through tangible outcomes rather than financial influence. The Critical Impact Awards aim to spotlight genuine achievements judged by experienced practitioners.”

Open Nominations and Judging Criteria

Anyone can submit a nomination for the Critical Impact Awards, including peers, leaders, vendors, partners, and journalists. Self-nominations are also accepted. The judging process focuses on the evidence of impact, not the source of the nomination.

The independent panel consists of seasoned professionals from the industrial cybersecurity field, including CISOs and OT security experts. They establish the judging criteria, scrutinize each entry, and provide detailed explanations for their selections, which are made public.

Diverse Award Categories

The inaugural awards will recognize achievements in two main categories: Technical Excellence & Research and Community & Leadership. Specific awards include Best OT Vulnerability Research, Most Innovative OT Defense, and ICS/OT Defender of the Year, among others.

Nominations will remain open until August 31, 2026, with finalists being notified beforehand. The winners will be celebrated live at the Nashville conference. For more information about submitting nominations or reviewing the judging criteria, interested parties are encouraged to visit the event’s official website.

The Critical Impact Awards by SecurityWeek are set to highlight the pivotal work being done in securing industrial systems worldwide, fostering recognition based on merit and evidence rather than financial clout.
