Cylake, a pioneering cybersecurity startup, has successfully raised $245 million to bolster the development of its AI-native security platform. This funding milestone brings its total capital to $290 million, achieved just six months since the company’s inception.
Strategic Investment and Future Plans
The newly acquired investment is earmarked for advancing Cylake’s platform and expanding its workforce in preparation for a beta release slated for the end of 2026. The company plans to make its platform broadly available by 2027, as it continues to scale its operations.
Having emerged from stealth mode in March 2026 with an initial $45 million seed investment led by Greylock Partners, Cylake has expanded to a team of over 40 employees. The company intends to further increase its headcount in areas like engineering, product development, and other critical functions.
Leadership and Experience
Cylake was founded by a team of industry veterans, including CEO Nir Zuk, Chief Development Officer Wilson Xu, and Chief Architect Ehud ‘Udi’ Shamir. Zuk, a prominent figure in the cybersecurity field, previously founded Palo Alto Networks and held the position of Chief Technology Officer there for over two decades.
Xu brings his expertise as a former engineering executive at Palo Alto Networks, while Shamir, a co-founder of SentinelOne, also contributed his extensive experience from his tenure at Palo Alto Networks. Joining them is René Bonvanie, who formerly served as Chief Marketing Officer at Palo Alto Networks.
Platform Capabilities and Market Strategy
The platform Cylake is developing is designed to meet the needs of government agencies and highly regulated industries that require stringent control over their data and infrastructure. The AI-integrated platform is intended to operate on-premises or within private cloud environments, ensuring comprehensive data sovereignty and control.
Cylake’s architecture aims to unify data and context from various organizational infrastructures, creating a cohesive foundation for robust protection and AI-enhanced workflows. This approach is designed to address the visibility challenges posed by using multiple security solutions that only access segments of an organization’s data.
To support this vision, the latest funding round was secured through a convertible note with participation from notable investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, Picture Capital, and Redpoint Ventures. Lightspeed’s partner and co-founder, Ravi Mhatre, will join Cylake’s board, while Picture Capital’s Rakesh Loonkar will act as a board observer.
As Cylake moves forward, its focus on AI-driven security solutions tailored to organizations with stringent data control needs positions it as a significant player in the cybersecurity industry. With its expert leadership and strategic investment backing, Cylake is poised to redefine security standards in an AI-native world.
