Ahold Delhaize Recovers Services After Cyberattack

Ahold Delhaize Recovers Services After Cyberattack

Posted on October 20, 2026 By CWS

The renowned grocery company, Ahold Delhaize, has successfully reinstated several services that were interrupted by a recent cyberattack. The company anticipates that additional operations will be online in the coming days, highlighting a swift recovery process.

Impact of the Cyberattack

On October 12, Ahold Delhaize proactively took its systems offline due to a ‘security issue’ within its network. This decision affected its online service capabilities, including order processing and delivery functions across both Europe and the United States.

Despite the disruption, Ahold Delhaize assured that its physical stores remained operational. The company confirmed on Monday that the cyberattack was the cause of the service disruptions, and many of its European online platforms and apps have been restored. Notably, Albert Heijn, a Dutch subsidiary, plans to resume home delivery services by Friday.

Restoration Timeline

In the United States, Ahold Delhaize’s e-commerce services are expected to be restored shortly, although no exact date has been specified. The company emphasizes that all of its stores remained open during this period, maintaining customer access to essential services.

While the organization refrained from detailing the nature of the cyberattack, it assured that there is currently no evidence of data theft involving customers, associates, or partners.

Security Measures and Response

Ahold Delhaize has been proactive in its response, notifying the Dutch National Cyber Security Centre and other relevant authorities soon after identifying the cyber incident. A formal police report was also filed earlier this week.

Frans Muller, the President and CEO of Ahold Delhaize, stated that taking systems offline was a necessary precaution to protect the network. He expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to their customers due to the malicious actions of cybercriminals.

As the company continues to recover and secure its systems, it remains committed to minimizing disruption and ensuring the swift resumption of full services.
