Jaguar Land Rover Confirms Hackers Stole Data in Ongoing Cyberattack

Jaguar Land Rover Confirms Hackers Stole Data in Ongoing Cyberattack

Posted on September 10, 2025September 10, 2025 By CWS

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has confirmed that knowledge was stolen throughout a significant cyberattack that has crippled its international operations, bringing automobile manufacturing to a standstill since early September.

The posh carmaker, a subsidiary of India’s Tata Motors, is now working with cybersecurity specialists to analyze the breach and restore its techniques.

The cyber incident, first disclosed on September 2, 2025, prompted JLR to close down its IT techniques as a precautionary measure, which severely disrupted its manufacturing and gross sales operations.

The shutdown has halted manufacturing at its key UK services in Solihull, Halewood, and Wolverhampton, stopping the meeting of roughly 1,000 automobiles per day. The disruption extends globally, affecting factories in Slovakia and India, in addition to supplier gross sales, automobile handovers, and the ordering of components.

Initially, JLR said there was no proof that buyer knowledge had been compromised. Nonetheless, in a press release launched on September 10, the corporate revised its evaluation, admitting that its ongoing investigation revealed “some knowledge has been affected”.

Whereas JLR has not specified whether or not the compromised knowledge belongs to clients, workers, or the corporate itself, it has notified the UK’s Data Commissioner’s Workplace (ICO) and different related regulators.

A JLR spokesperson said, “Since we grew to become conscious of the cyber incident, now we have been working across the clock, alongside third-party cybersecurity specialists, to restart our international purposes in a managed and secure method”.

The corporate has assured that its “forensic investigation continues at tempo” and that it’ll contact anybody whose knowledge is discovered to be impacted.

The assault has precipitated important concern, with UK authorities officers reportedly apprehensive in regards to the financial fallout from the extended shutdown, which is predicted to final for weeks.

A hacking group referred to as “Scattered Lus$,” beforehand linked to assaults on different UK retailers, has reportedly claimed duty for the breach.

JLR continues to handle the disaster, with nearly all of its manufacturing staff being instructed to not return to work as the corporate assesses the scenario day by day. The carmaker has apologized for the continuing disruption brought on by the incident.
