End of Support Details
With the final monthly security update issued, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2016 LTSB will cease to receive updates on October 13, 2026, while Windows Server 2016 will reach its end of support on January 12, 2027. Post these dates, these products will no longer benefit from security patches, bug fixes, or technical support.
This cessation of updates means systems will become increasingly vulnerable to new threats as they remain unpatched and non-compliant with modern security standards.
Upgrade Recommendations
Microsoft advises organizations to migrate to newer versions to mitigate security risks. For servers, the recommended upgrade path is to Windows Server 2025. For Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016, transitioning to Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 or Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 is advised, depending on hardware compatibility.

ESU for Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB will be available for purchase through Volume Licensing or Cloud Solution Providers starting Q2 2026.
ESU pricing is structured to increase annually, necessitating full payment for all previous years when enrolling mid-term.
