Data Breach at Dutch Carrier Odido Affects Millions

Data Breach at Dutch Carrier Odido Affects Millions

Posted on February 13, 2026 By CWS

Dutch mobile provider Odido has revealed a significant data breach affecting the personal details of more than 6 million customers. The company disclosed that the breach occurred over two days, on February 7 and 8, when unauthorized individuals accessed a customer contact system. Both Odido and its subsidiary Ben’s customers were impacted by this incident.

Details of the Security Breach

During the breach, hackers obtained sensitive customer data, including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, customer numbers, bank account details, and identification numbers such as passports or driver’s licenses. Despite this extensive data theft, Odido confirmed that passwords, call records, and invoice data remained secure and uncompromised.

In response to the breach, Odido swiftly cut off the hackers’ access to its systems. The company also enhanced its security protocols and informed the appropriate authorities about the incident. Affected customers are being notified individually through email or phone, and Odido has advised them to be vigilant against any strange activities, including phishing attempts.

Ongoing Monitoring and Customer Safety

Odido has stated that, to date, there is no evidence of the stolen data being published online. However, the company continues to monitor the situation closely, working alongside cybersecurity experts to prevent misuse of the data. Odido has urged its customers to stay alert for any unusual activity or communications, reinforcing the importance of vigilance in such situations.

According to a statement from the company, not every customer was affected, although estimates suggest that approximately 6.2 million people might have been impacted. Odido has not disclosed any information regarding the identity of the hackers, nor has any group claimed responsibility for the breach.

Implications and Future Precautions

Security experts emphasize the need for ongoing diligence in protecting customer data, especially in the wake of such breaches. While Odido has taken immediate steps to secure its systems and inform affected individuals, the potential for data misuse remains a concern. Customers are encouraged to monitor their accounts closely and report any suspicious activities to the company.

In similar news, other organizations, including ApolloMD and the European Commission, have also faced cybersecurity threats, underscoring the growing importance of robust data protection strategies in today’s digital landscape.

SecurityWeek has reached out to Odido for more information regarding the breach and will provide updates as they become available.
