Manifold Secures Million to Enhance AI Security

Manifold Secures $8 Million to Enhance AI Security

Posted on March 18, 2026 By CWS

Manifold, a cybersecurity startup based in California, has announced securing $8 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Costanoa Ventures, with additional investments from Cherry Ventures, Rain Capital, Modern Technical Fund, and several angel investors.

Innovative AI Detection and Response Platform

Established in 2025, Manifold has developed an advanced AI Detection and Response (AIDR) platform. This platform offers security teams comprehensive visibility into the activities of AI agents within their organization. It provides real-time data on the tools these agents use, the systems they interact with, and their actions.

Manifold’s AIDR platform is integrated with existing infrastructure to detect connections to MCP servers, databases, and external systems. It also flags any unusual behavior by AI agents in real time, enabling immediate security responses.

Enhancing Security Capabilities with Fresh Funding

The newly acquired $8 million will be invested in further developing and enhancing the AIDR platform. This move aims to improve the platform’s capacity to monitor AI agents, providing security teams with the tools to quickly quarantine, remediate, or eliminate unauthorized agents.

Neal Swaelens, Manifold’s CEO and co-founder, highlighted the increasing presence of coding agents across developer environments. He emphasized the platform’s necessity in managing these agents’ expansive access to critical systems and third-party tools.

Addressing the Evolving Landscape of AI Security

With the growing influence of AI solutions like Claude Cowork and OpenClaw, the need for robust security measures is more critical than ever. These AI agents are capable of executing complex tasks, presenting new challenges for traditional security approaches.

Swaelens pointed out that first-generation AI security tools are not equipped to handle these challenges, underscoring the importance of Manifold’s innovative solutions. By tackling these issues, Manifold aims to set a new standard in AI security practices.

The startup’s efforts align with broader industry trends, as highlighted by recent investments in related technologies. As the field of AI security continues to evolve, Manifold’s advancements could play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cybersecurity.
