Ocean Secures $28M for Advanced Email Security Platform

Posted on May 21, 2026 By CWS

Ocean, a pioneering startup in cybersecurity, has successfully secured $28 million in funding to advance its innovative email security platform. This significant investment was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with contributions from Picture Capital, Cerca Partners, and notable angel investors.

Innovative Email Security Approach

Founded in 2024 by Shay Shwartz and Oran Moyal, Ocean operates out of New York City and Tel Aviv. The company has developed a cutting-edge platform that employs specialized artificial intelligence agents to meticulously analyze every incoming email. These agents assess the intent of the sender, gather contextual information, and scrutinize conversation threads to detect potential threats.

The platform is particularly adept at identifying sophisticated cyberattacks, including business email compromise, vendor email compromise, and AI-generated phishing attempts. By conducting thorough evaluations of infrastructure, files, links, identities, financial requests, and abuse mailboxes, Ocean enhances the detection and prevention of these threats.

Advanced Threat Detection and Automation

Ocean’s platform automates the process of triaging reported emails, managing quarantine releases, and handling incidents, providing real-time guidance to employees encountering suspicious communications. According to CEO Shay Shwartz, the challenge lies not just in identifying malicious emails, but in uncovering harmful intents hidden within seemingly legitimate messages.

Shwartz explained, “Attackers now leverage AI to craft emails that are flawless in appearance, reference actual projects, and impersonate trusted associates, making them difficult to distinguish from genuine communications. Security teams often spend excessive time tracking anomalies, diverting attention from more impactful threats. Ocean’s AI agents delve deeper, verifying context and identifying malicious intents at scale.”

Future Outlook and Industry Impact

Ocean’s approach marks a significant shift from traditional email security measures, replacing surface-level filtering with a more comprehensive analysis using AI. This development is poised to transform the way organizations handle email security, making it a critical tool in the fight against evolving cyber threats.

As cybersecurity remains a top priority for businesses worldwide, Ocean’s innovative platform positions it as a leader in the industry, promising enhanced protection and efficiency for security teams across various sectors.
