Flipper One: New Modular Linux Cyberdeck Unveiled

Flipper One: New Modular Linux Cyberdeck Unveiled

Posted on May 21, 2026 By CWS

Flipper Devices has introduced the Flipper One, a modular Linux cyberdeck crafted for hackers, researchers, and makers. This device is designed as an open, mainline-first ARM platform, distinct from its predecessor, Flipper Zero.

Next-Level Networking and Computing

Unlike the Flipper Zero, the Flipper One is not a mere upgrade but a separate product focused on IP networking and high-performance computing. It is powered by the Rockchip RK3576, which supports an open Linux stack with full mainline kernel integration, free from binary blobs or vendor-specific BSP dependencies. Flipper Devices aims to enhance RK3576 support through a partnership with Collabora, enabling users to boot directly from kernel.org software.

Advanced Features and Expansion Capabilities

Flipper One stands out with its modular design, offering interfaces like PCIe, USB 3.0, SATA, and M.2. These components facilitate the addition of high-speed accessories such as SDR radios, SSDs, and cellular modems. The device can function as a router, VPN gateway, packet analyzer, or mobile Linux workstation, featuring dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB Ethernet at 5 Gbps, Wi-Fi 6E, and optional 5G connectivity via an M.2 modem.

Open Development and Community Engagement

Flipper Devices emphasizes the distinct roles of Flipper Zero and Flipper One, with the former focusing on offline access control and radio protocols, while the latter is geared towards IP-connected workflows. The company has launched the Flipper One Developer Portal, a community-driven wiki that details the development process. This transparent approach involves sub-teams working on hardware, software, and documentation, inviting community contributions to shape the project.

For security professionals, Flipper One offers a compelling combination of hardware and software, with its mainline-first Linux platform and open documentation. This makes it ideal for packet analysis, lab work, and wireless research. The developer portal further emphasizes the community’s role in refining the device’s technical stack and design.
