RevEng.AI Secures $15M to Detect Software Vulnerabilities

Cybersecurity innovator RevEng.AI has successfully obtained $15 million in Series A funding, bringing its total fundraising to $19.5 million. This new investment round was spearheaded by the NATO Innovation Fund and saw participation from Sands Capital, In-Q-Tel (IQT), IQ Capital, and Episode One.

Advanced AI Model for Software Analysis

Founded in 2023 and headquartered in London, RevEng.AI leverages an artificial intelligence model known as BinNet. This AI is designed to perform in-depth analysis of compiled software binaries, identifying potential vulnerabilities and hidden backdoors without the need for source code access. This capability sets it apart from many existing solutions.

The BinNet model has been trained with input from elite cyber units across government and commercial sectors to conduct automated binary analysis. This allows it to detect concealed functionalities, security issues, and unexpected software changes.

Securing the Software Supply Chain

RevEng.AI aims to use its cutting-edge technology to bolster the security of the software supply chain, a growing target in the face of increased AI-driven software development. The platform offers rapid analysis, enabling organizations to gain insights into software artifacts, dependencies, and integrity.

The solution also integrates with existing security measures and software delivery processes, enabling proactive verification of software, whether closed-source, internally developed, or third-party.

Ensuring Software Integrity

James Patrick-Evans, founder and CEO of RevEng.AI, highlighted the critical role of executable binary files as a universal source of truth in an era increasingly defined by AI-generated code. He emphasized the necessity for an independent verification mechanism to assess software before it is released or deployed, citing the lack of human oversight in modern software development.

RevEng.AI’s platform provides this independent verification, ensuring that organizations can trust the software they use. This advancement is vital given the growing prevalence of AI in software development, where much of the code remains unexamined by human eyes.

With this recent funding, RevEng.AI is poised to further enhance its technology, contributing significantly to the security and reliability of software systems worldwide.
