Mindgard Secures $30 Million to Enhance AI Security

Posted on August 12, 2026 By CWS

Mindgard, an AI security startup, has successfully secured $30 million in a Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to nearly $42 million. This financial boost reflects the increasing demand from enterprises to safeguard their rapidly expanding artificial intelligence infrastructures.

Funding Led by Industry Leaders

Album VC spearheaded the funding round, with new participation from Karma Ventures, and returning support from .406 Ventures, Atlantic Bridge, IQ Capital, and Lakestar. Mindgard intends to utilize this capital to expand its product, engineering, sales, and marketing teams in response to growing customer needs.

Originating from Lancaster University, recognized for its significant AI security research, Mindgard has transformed over a decade of academic expertise into a viable commercial platform. Their primary innovation involves Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) tailored for AI systems, offering a continuous, automated framework for identifying vulnerabilities.

Advancing AI Security Testing

In contrast to theoretical risk evaluations, Mindgard’s platform actively tests AI models and applications using real-world attack methods. This approach helps enterprises identify vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by malicious entities. The company’s continuous testing methodology builds on new techniques in autonomous penetration testing, assessing model responses under adversarial scenarios.

Mindgard’s proactive security strategies have already revealed over 150 significant security vulnerabilities in popular AI products. Each discovery enhances their threat intelligence database, refining both offensive and defensive strategies.

Significance of AI Security

According to Mindgard’s CEO, James Brear, AI introduces new security challenges that necessitate innovative protection strategies. The company’s approach integrates renowned AI security research and offensive security practices into essential enterprise capabilities.

The Series A funding follows Mindgard’s rapid adoption among Fortune 2000 companies and AI-driven startups across various sectors, including financial services, healthcare, and digital services. As AI becomes integral to operational workflows, the necessity for continuous vulnerability assessment is paramount.

As Ty Boswell from Album VC points out, Mindgard is pioneering a new cybersecurity category. Their expertise translates into a constantly evolving capability, ensuring enterprises remain ahead of emerging AI threats. This funding round highlights a critical shift: AI security is becoming a standalone discipline, essential for modern technology infrastructures.
