Fake Google Meet Pages Targeting User Credentials

Fake Google Meet Pages Targeting User Credentials

Posted on October 20, 2026 By CWS

In a recent cybersecurity alert, researchers have uncovered two websites that are masquerading as Google Meet pages. These fraudulent sites are set up to steal Google account credentials and facilitate two-factor authentication (2FA) phishing attacks, as reported on October 20, 2026. The imitation pages are designed to trick users into entering their account details by appearing as legitimate meeting services.

Impersonation of Google Meet

Google Meet is widely used for professional, educational, and personal communication, making it a prime target for cybercriminals. The two domains involved in this case—meet-google[.]cyou and qooglo[.]com—mimic Google’s official domain but are not genuine. Users are advised to verify website addresses thoroughly before entering any sensitive information, as familiar logos and language can be misleading.

The fraudulent pages not only aim to capture user credentials but also target 2FA information. While the exact process for stealing this data is not detailed, the potential for criminals to exploit captured credentials remains significant. Google encourages the use of stronger authentication methods, like security keys, to mitigate such risks.

Database Configuration Exposure

A separate issue reported involves an exposed /install page on the fake sites, revealing sensitive database configuration details and a prefilled password. Although the actual password was not disclosed, the exposure of such information poses a risk of unauthorized database access.

Website operators are advised to secure installation and setup pages by removing default credentials and restricting access. It is crucial to audit these configurations to ensure no sensitive information is left publicly accessible.

Preventive Measures and Recommendations

To safeguard against such phishing scams, users should navigate to Google Meet through known URLs or trusted calendar invites. Checking the full domain name is essential, as an SSL certificate or padlock icon only ensures encryption, not site legitimacy.

If users suspect their credentials have been compromised, they should immediately change their Google password via the official account page, review recent security events, and disconnect unfamiliar devices. Organizations should also monitor sign-in logs for suspicious activity and educate staff about potential threats.

Cybersecurity experts emphasize the importance of updating defenses against evolving threats and integrating threat intelligence feeds into security operations. With phishing schemes continuing to evolve, vigilance remains key to protecting personal and organizational data.
