Microsoft has introduced a new Windows 11 Insider Preview Build, numbered 26300.8170, tailored for the Dev Channel. This update brings significant enhancements to Secure Boot monitoring, storage management, and the Feedback Hub interface.
Enhanced Secure Boot Monitoring
The update notably improves the Secure Boot experience within the Windows Security application. Users can now navigate to Windows Security > Device Security > Secure Boot to see color-coded icon badges—green, yellow, and red—alongside descriptive text that indicates the current status of the device’s Secure Boot and its certificate condition.
This improvement is part of Microsoft’s broader initiative to update Secure Boot certificates for consumer and specific business devices. Users are now empowered to verify their certificate status proactively, avoiding potential issues before they arise. On IT-managed enterprise devices, this feature remains disabled by default to prevent disruption.
This development provides both end users and administrators with instant visibility into a crucial firmware-level security feature, enhancing transparency that was previously lacking.
Storage Management Advancements
The latest build introduces pivotal changes in storage management, most notably the increase in the FAT32 formatting size limit via the command line. Previously capped at 32GB, it now supports up to 2TB, addressing a long-standing limitation for system administrators and power users.
This change significantly enhances the utility of FAT32 for larger removable drives and cross-platform storage needs. Additional storage enhancements include improved navigation performance when managing large volumes and refined User Account Control (UAC) prompt behavior.
Moreover, a bug affecting the Network & Internet data usage display, which previously showed exaggerated values, has been fixed in this release.
Feedback Hub Refinements
The Feedback Hub has been updated to version 2.2604.101.0, featuring design improvements driven by user feedback. These include optimized default window sizing with persistent session memory, support for mouse back-button navigation, and improved community feedback visibility.
The upvote button rendering has also been corrected for users utilizing the Chinese display language, enhancing the overall user experience.
This build, part of Windows 11 version 25H2, is available to Dev Channel Insiders and employs Microsoft’s Controlled Feature Rollout, meaning not all Insiders will receive every update simultaneously. Users can enable the latest update toggle under Settings > Windows Update to expedite feature delivery.
