AegisAI Secures $36M to Enhance AI Email Protection

Posted on July 24, 2026 By CWS

Email security pioneer AegisAI has successfully raised $36 million in a Series A funding round, unveiled on Thursday. This financial boost was spearheaded by Battery Ventures, with additional backing from Accel and Foundation Capital, propelling the company’s total investment to $49 million. The new funds are earmarked for enhancing its suite of autonomous detection agents, advancing the Vanguard agent’s availability, and expanding enterprise market strategies.

Investment to Fuel AI Security Advances

Founded in 2025 by former Google security team members Cy Khormaee and Ryan Luo, AegisAI aims to redefine email security through innovative AI solutions. Emerging from stealth mode in September 2025, the company offers a platform built on a network of AI agents dedicated to identifying phishing attempts, business email compromises, and other cyber threats. Unlike traditional security systems relying on static rules, AegisAI’s technology assesses the intent and identity behind emails, offering a more dynamic defense.

Innovative Security Solutions

AegisAI’s solutions integrate seamlessly with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace via an API, eliminating the need for alterations to a customer’s MX records. In March, the introduction of Vanguard marked a significant step forward. This companion agent actively investigates suspicious links and attachments, mimicking human behavior to deliver threat assessments swiftly. The company is committed to advancing AI-driven protection against sophisticated threats.

Addressing Modern Cyber Threats

With the rise of AI spear phishing, where attackers use language models to craft personalized lures, AegisAI emphasizes the importance of AI defenses. CEO Cy Khormaee highlights that the greatest risk lies not in direct system breaches but in manipulation through trusted contacts. He stresses that traditional security measures are inadequate against AI-crafted threats, advocating for AI-based defenses as essential.

As AegisAI continues its journey, the focus remains on evolving its technology to counteract increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. The company’s efforts underscore the necessity of cutting-edge solutions in the ever-evolving landscape of email security, promising significant advancements in safeguarding enterprises worldwide.
