In August 2026, the cybersecurity sector witnessed a wave of mergers and acquisitions, with 33 significant deals announced. These strategic moves indicate the ongoing consolidation and innovation in the cybersecurity landscape, as companies aim to enhance their technological capabilities and market reach.

Key Acquisitions in August 2026

Among the notable transactions, Brinqa acquired PlexTrac, integrating its penetration testing and reporting functionalities to enhance Brinqa’s Continuous Threat Exposure Management platform. This acquisition is poised to fortify Brinqa’s ability to validate security measures through offensive security validation.

Cribl’s purchase of assets from Radiant Security, an AI-native SOC startup, was another highlight. By incorporating Radiant’s autonomous alert triage and incident response features, Cribl aims to bolster its telemetry data platform and improve incident management efficiency.

Strategic Industry Moves

Datavault AI’s acquisition of CyberCatch for $94.5 million underscores the importance of continuous compliance and post-quantum encryption in the current cybersecurity environment. This deal is expected to enrich Datavault’s platform with advanced compliance and encryption technologies.

Meanwhile, Deel’s acquisition of Clarity, an AI firm specializing in deepfake detection, reflects the growing concern over identity fraud. By integrating Clarity’s technology, Deel is set to enhance the security of its remote workforce hiring processes.

Expanding Global Influence

Fortinet’s acquisition of AI security company Virtue AI marks a strategic move to advance its AI security offerings. The integration of Virtue’s capabilities aims to strengthen Fortinet’s position in agentic system protection and continuous AI validation.

Kiteworks expanded its geographical footprint by acquiring WAMNET Japan K.K., enhancing its private content network strategy in Japan. This acquisition allows Kiteworks to leverage existing contracts and maintain data hosting within Japan, ensuring customer data security and compliance.
