On Monday, the American-Israeli cybersecurity firm Neo announced its emergence from stealth, supported by a $100 million investment aimed at enhancing the security and control of AI software for enterprises. This substantial funding was secured through seed and Series A rounds led by notable investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Craft Ventures, and Merlin Ventures.
Investment Aims to Expand Teams
Neo plans to utilize this financial boost to expand its engineering capabilities and strengthen its market presence. The company’s platform is specifically designed to function as a control layer for AI agents, AI-enabled applications, and conventional software within enterprise environments. This ensures a comprehensive governance approach across varied software systems.
The solution provided by Neo allows security operations teams to actively catalog and assess active components such as agents, models, and extensions. It further evaluates these assets to pinpoint any excessive access privileges or configuration weaknesses, offering a robust analysis of potential vulnerabilities.
Advanced Security Features
Neo’s platform is equipped with real-time attribution features, enabling the traceability of software actions back to individual users or automated agents. This functionality is crucial for enforcing detailed policies on tool usage, data management, and workflow processes, as well as managing API access to prevent unauthorized activities.
The system’s capabilities also allow security teams to interrupt and review suspicious operations, adding an additional layer of manual oversight where necessary. This ensures a balance between security and operational efficiency.
Leadership and Vision
Founded by industry veterans Nick Warner, Shlomi Salem, and Eran Shirazi, Neo is led by Warner as CEO. Warner’s extensive experience includes executive roles at SentinelOne, Cylance, McAfee, and Forepoint. Salem, serving as CPO, previously spearheaded detection engineering at SentinelOne, while CTO Shirazi is a co-founder of the customer experience company EasySend.
According to Warner, the integration of AI agents into various software platforms is transforming their capabilities, allowing them to reason and operate with real user permissions. Neo empowers enterprises with the tools to regulate this transformation, ensuring secure software adoption without hindering business processes.
This development in AI software security comes amidst other significant industry movements, such as recent funding rounds for Beacon Security and Risk Ledger, and Oak’s emergence with its own funding announcement.
