Synopsys, a leader in electronic design automation, has refuted allegations of a data breach after a cybercrime group asserted they had infiltrated its systems. The hackers claimed unauthorized access to significant data from Bosch, a prominent client.
Cybercrime Group’s Claims
Recently, a ransomware faction known as D1R listed Synopsys and Bosch on its leak platform on the dark web. The group alleged they exploited a vulnerability within Synopsys’ systems, accessing a database of 40,000 records. They threatened to release the data unless a ransom was met.
Moreover, D1R claimed that their hack on Bosch was facilitated by the data obtained from Synopsys, alleging access to crucial intellectual assets of Bosch. This assertion heightened the concern about the potential impact of the breach.
Synopsys’ Response to Allegations
Specializing in tools for designing semiconductors and electronic components, Synopsys plays a vital role in Bosch’s development of automotive and industrial systems. In response to these claims, Synopsys assured that thorough investigations revealed no unauthorized access.
A spokesperson from Synopsys told SecurityWeek, “Our priority is safeguarding our data and network. Continuous monitoring shows no sign of unauthorized access to Synopsys or client data. Our investigation deems these claims as unfounded.”

To support their claims, the hackers released a screenshot purportedly showing Bosch data. However, the document was identified as a publicly available user manual, casting doubt on the hackers’ assertions.
