White House Network Found Hosting Residential Proxies

White House Network Found Hosting Residential Proxies

Posted on November 6, 2026 By CWS

Recent findings by security researchers have brought to light the presence of residential proxy exit nodes within the White House network. This discovery raises significant cybersecurity concerns due to the implications of such infrastructure being utilized in an official government setting.

Investigative Findings on White House Network

According to Layer3 Intel, several IP addresses associated with the Executive Office of the President’s network, known as AS2650, were identified as exit nodes for 28 different residential proxy services. These activities were recorded between October 5 and November 3, highlighting a notable security lapse within this high-profile network.

The researchers reported that their enumeration pipeline for residential proxies resulted in 236 separate exits through the White House’s network. This pattern suggests the possibility of unauthorized use by individuals who subscribe to public residential proxy services, enabling them to channel requests via these government-linked nodes.

Pattern of Proxy Activity

Layer3 Intel observed that most proxy-related activities on the White House network predominantly occurred during evening hours, between 5 p.m. and midnight Eastern Time. This timing pattern indicates the potential involvement of an individual device, possibly infected with a proxy software development kit (SDK), rather than a publicly accessible guest network. Such usage patterns suggest internal misuse rather than widespread public access.

Further analysis from cybersecurity firm Synthient, which specializes in detecting residential proxies and similar infrastructures, identified the source of this traffic as originating from Windows 11 systems equipped with the InfaticaSDK. This SDK is part of Infatica, a Singapore-based organization providing global access to web data intelligence through millions of IP addresses.

Global Reach and Historical Context

Infatica’s connections extend beyond the United States, with its founder, Vladimir Fomenko, also owning King Servers, a company previously implicated in hosting internet addresses used by Russian hackers during the 2016 US election. This historical context underscores the potential risks associated with unmonitored proxy usage within sensitive government networks.

Layer3 Intel’s report underscores the global penetration of residential proxies, with occurrences in remote regions such as Saint Helena, Antarctica, and several other isolated territories. These findings highlight the widespread reach and potential vulnerabilities introduced by residential proxy networks around the world.

Conclusion and Future Implications

The revelation of residential proxies on the White House network underscores the pressing need for enhanced cybersecurity measures within governmental IT environments. This situation serves as a wake-up call for security professionals to address potential weaknesses and prevent unauthorized exploitation of critical networks. Ongoing monitoring and robust security protocols are essential to safeguard against such vulnerabilities in the future.
