Wiz Enhances Google Cloud’s Security in B Acquisition

Wiz Enhances Google Cloud’s Security in $32B Acquisition

Posted on March 11, 2026 By CWS

Cloud security leader Wiz has officially become part of Google Cloud in a significant $32 billion all-cash deal that was finalized today. This acquisition represents a major step in enhancing Google’s cloud security offerings.

Regulatory Approvals and Financial Details

The financial specifics of the transaction remain undisclosed beyond the initial announcement. However, the deal went through a thorough antitrust review in the U.S. in November 2025 and received unconditional approval from the European Commission under the EU Merger Regulation a month ago.

Integration of Advanced Security Technologies

This acquisition allows Google Cloud to integrate Wiz’s cutting-edge technology into its own security infrastructure. Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to offer an AI-driven cybersecurity platform that would strengthen threat detection, prevention, and response mechanisms across various environments.

Wiz’s technology will be combined with Google’s Threat Intelligence and Security Operations, enabling security teams to address new AI-based threats and bolster AI model security. The synergy aims to enhance threat hunting and response capabilities significantly.

Future Prospects and Team Expansion

Despite the acquisition, Wiz will continue to operate under its brand name, providing comprehensive security solutions compatible with major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud. CEO Assaf Rappaport expressed enthusiasm about the potential to accelerate Wiz’s roadmap, particularly with the integration of Google’s advanced AI capabilities.

Rappaport also mentioned forthcoming updates on platform enhancements, notably leveraging Google’s Gemini AI. The acquisition promises substantial financial returns for Wiz’s investors, with major stakeholders such as Index Ventures and Sequoia Capital set to receive billions.

Moreover, Wiz’s global workforce, comprising 1,800 employees, will benefit from equity valued at around $3 billion, with Google pledging $1.5 billion in retention bonuses to encourage them to remain post-acquisition.

As Google Cloud continues to fortify its position in the cybersecurity realm, this acquisition aligns with its previous strategic purchase of Mandiant for $5.4 billion in 2022, emphasizing its commitment to robust incident response and threat intelligence capabilities.
