Windows 11 KB5094126 Update Causes System Issues

Windows 11 KB5094126 Update Causes System Issues

Posted on June 15, 2026 By CWS

Microsoft’s recent Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11, labeled KB5094126, has led to significant disruptions for users, according to reports from various forums and enterprise environments. This update, which was released on June 9, 2026, is intended to deliver critical security patches for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. However, it has instead caused system freezes, BitLocker recovery loops, and issues with OneDrive and local network access.

Details of the KB5094126 Update

The KB5094126 update aims to enhance Windows 11 with security improvements and quality upgrades, including Bluetooth LE Audio support and Windows Hello enhancements. It also addresses virtualization-related errors that previously affected gaming and virtual machine workloads. Despite these intended improvements, the update has introduced a range of problems.

User Reports and System Freezes

Many users on Microsoft’s Q&A forums have reported that their systems become unresponsive shortly after installing KB5094126, sometimes within just five minutes of booting. In some instances, the system freezes too quickly to allow for a standard uninstallation, forcing users to resort to the Windows Recovery Environment. Some have encountered further issues in recovery mode, such as altered Windows edition labels and missing taskbar clocks, ultimately necessitating a full operating system reinstall.

BitLocker Recovery and Network Issues

One of the most critical issues is the forced activation of BitLocker Recovery mode on reboot, even on devices where BitLocker was disabled. This poses a challenge for corporate deployments using local accounts without Microsoft Account backup, as the recovery key is not automatically saved. Microsoft’s support indicates that without a recovery key, a full OS reinstall is the only solution, leading to potential business downtime.

The update also interferes with OneDrive access in Windows File Explorer, presenting users with blank results when attempting to browse folders. Additionally, some users have reported that local network access is disrupted while internet connectivity remains unaffected. Attempts to block the update have been unsuccessful, as it reinstalls itself overnight.

Additional Issues and Solutions

HP devices, such as the 840 G10 and Engage One Pro 15.6 G2 AiO, are experiencing additional BSOD errors due to EFI system partition constraints. A registry-based workaround involving the EspPaddingPercent setting has been suggested, but Microsoft has yet to address these issues officially. As a temporary solution, users can attempt to roll back the update through the Windows Recovery Environment.

Despite the widespread impact, Microsoft has not acknowledged these problems in their official documentation regarding KB5094126. This disconnect between official statements and user experiences continues to cause frustration among affected users.
