Google’s DeepMind has introduced an innovative artificial intelligence model named Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, aimed at enhancing software security by swiftly identifying and addressing vulnerabilities. This cutting-edge AI, built on the 3.5 Flash framework, is designed to efficiently scan code and patch weaknesses. Initially, the model will be available to select governments and partners through CodeMender, an AI-driven tool for vulnerability discovery and patching unveiled in late 2025.

Exclusive Access and Future Expansion

Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is being rolled out under a limited-access pilot program. Aimed at governments and trusted partners, this initiative allows early adopters to leverage the model’s capabilities for proactive defense. Google plans to further enhance the model with features such as red-teaming and comprehensive enterprise defense, making it a versatile tool in the cybersecurity landscape.

According to DeepMind, the AI offers a cost-effective alternative to more expensive cybersecurity solutions. CodeMender can utilize the 3.5 Flash Cyber model multiple times efficiently, allowing for broader code path scans and improved vulnerability detection. The model’s deployment within CodeMender ensures controlled use, focusing on defensive functions while restricting other activities.

Performance and Evaluation

Evaluations by DeepMind reveal that Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber surpasses its predecessors, including Gemini 3.5 Flash and 3.6 Flash, in identifying software vulnerabilities. Tests on complex projects such as Google Chrome and Apple Safari demonstrated the model’s superior capability, outpacing competitors like Anthropic Claude Opus 4.6 in discovering unique code issues.

Specifically, when applied to the V8 JavaScript Engine, the model uncovered 55 unique confirmed vulnerabilities, outperforming both Gemini 3.5 Flash and Opus 4.6. This underscores its potential in tackling sophisticated cybersecurity challenges and its ability to execute reliable remote-code exploits despite conventional mitigation techniques.

Google’s strategic deployment of Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber through CodeMender highlights its commitment to advancing AI-driven cybersecurity solutions.
