Google has unveiled a new update for its Chrome browser, addressing 32 security vulnerabilities across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms. This update includes patches for one critical flaw and several high-severity issues affecting components like V8, ANGLE, GPU, and more.
Details of the Latest Chrome Update
The release of Chrome version 154.0.8037.92/.93 is underway for Windows and Mac users, while Linux users are receiving version 154.0.8037.92. Google plans to distribute this update progressively over the coming days and weeks, enhancing the browser’s security defenses significantly.
Among the most pressing vulnerabilities is CVE-2026-102331, a critical buffer overflow issue within the ANGLE component. This flaw poses a risk of memory corruption, which could potentially allow for code execution within Chrome’s browser environment.
High-Severity Vulnerabilities in Focus
The update also addresses multiple high-severity issues in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine. These include several type confusion vulnerabilities identified as CVE-2026-102299, CVE-2026-102323, CVE-2026-102326, CVE-2026-102328, and CVE-2026-102321. Type confusion flaws occur when a program misinterprets an object type, leading to possible memory corruption or the execution of arbitrary code.
Additionally, a high-severity buffer overflow in V8, tracked as CVE-2026-102302, has been rectified. This vulnerability could be exploited through malicious web pages, potentially causing browser crashes or further exploits.
Other Security Enhancements
Beyond these, Google has tackled various memory-safety issues within GPU, WebGPU, WebGL, and other components. Noteworthy among these are use-after-free flaws found in Bluetooth, Views, Passwords, FullScreen, and Picture-in-Picture components. Such vulnerabilities can be leveraged by attackers to gain unauthorized access to code execution.
The update also remedies CVE-2026-102329, a significant cross-site scripting flaw in WebUI, which could allow attackers to inject harmful scripts, risking data exposure or unauthorized browser control.
In line with security best practices, Google is temporarily limiting access to detailed technical information about these vulnerabilities until most users have updated, minimizing the chance of exploitation.
