AI Threat Detection Startup Scanner Secures M Funding

AI Threat Detection Startup Scanner Secures $22M Funding

Posted on March 11, 2026 By CWS

San Francisco-based cybersecurity firm Scanner has successfully raised $22 million in a Series A funding round. The investments, spearheaded by Sequoia Capital, also include contributions from CRV, Mantis VC, and a group of angel investors.

Revolutionizing Threat Detection

Established in 2022, Scanner is at the forefront of cloud-native security, offering solutions to enhance threat detection and response capabilities. By integrating with existing security infrastructures, Scanner provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that links AI agents with data lakes, thereby optimizing security operations.

Scanner’s technology relies on inverted indexes created during data ingestion, facilitating efficient threat scans. This approach dynamically scales resources based on demand, ensuring cost-effective operations.

AI Agents Enhancing Security Operations

The AI agents developed by Scanner are designed to synthesize data from various sources, delivering concise summaries that aid in interactive investigations and automated response actions. These capabilities significantly outperform traditional SIEM solutions by continuously processing data streams and delivering rapid insights.

Scanner’s innovative method addresses the challenge faced by security teams which generate vast amounts of data but can only analyze a limited subset. Sequoia Capital partner Bogomil Balkansky commended the company’s approach, highlighting its potential to usher in a new era of cybersecurity, driven by AI.

Future Prospects and Industry Impact

With this substantial investment, Scanner is poised to enhance its offerings and further innovate in the cybersecurity landscape. The company’s focus on managing security data at AI scale positions it uniquely in an increasingly data-driven world.

This funding announcement comes as the cybersecurity sector continues to attract significant investment, with other companies like Quantro Security and Escape also securing substantial financial backing to advance their technological solutions.

As the cybersecurity landscape evolves, Scanner’s AI-powered approach promises to be a game-changer, offering faster and more efficient threat detection and response capabilities to organizations worldwide.
