Cisco Releases Patches for Critical Security Flaws

Cisco Releases Patches for Critical Security Flaws

Posted on October 8, 2026 By CWS

Cisco has released updates to address 35 vulnerabilities across its products, including several deemed critical. The patches, announced on Wednesday, aim to resolve various security issues to protect users from potential threats.

Meraki Security Enhancements

The recent update for Cisco’s Meraki product line addresses multiple flaws identified by seven separate CVEs. Among these, the most significant is CVE-2026-76464, which involves critical memory management issues such as buffer overflows and out-of-bounds writes.

Another set of vulnerabilities in the License On-Prem system includes eight issues, with five being of critical severity. Notably, CVE-2026-20328 and CVE-2026-76454 can be exploited without authentication, leading to unauthorized access and potential Denial of Service (DoS) conditions.

NX-OS and Other Critical Fixes

For the NX-OS platform, Cisco has issued fixes for 14 vulnerabilities. Seven of these are categorized as critical, addressing improper access controls and out-of-bounds write errors, specifically under CVE-2026-76455 and CVE-2026-76459.

Two additional vulnerabilities, CVE-2026-76471 and CVE-2026-76465, could potentially enable remote attackers to execute arbitrary code with root privileges or cause a DoS condition. Moreover, three issues affecting Nexus 3000 and Nexus 9000 switches with NGOAM enabled have been addressed.

Additional Security Updates

Cisco’s Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC) also received patches for three critical CVEs, namely CVE-2026-76498, CVE-2026-76499, and CVE-2026-76500. These address issues related to improper access control, OS injection, and memory errors.

Furthermore, a high-severity Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability, CVE-2026-20362, affecting the Finesse platform, has been disclosed and patched.

As of now, Cisco reports no known exploitation of these vulnerabilities in the wild. Users are encouraged to review the company’s security advisories for detailed information on the updates.

For further insights and recommendations, Cisco directs users to its security advisories page and notifications for comprehensive guidance.

Looking Forward

Maintaining robust cybersecurity defenses is crucial, and Cisco’s proactive approach in addressing these vulnerabilities underscores the importance of timely updates. Users are advised to implement the patches promptly to safeguard their systems against potential threats.
