Horizon3 Secures $250 Million to Boost Expansion

Posted on August 3, 2026 By CWS

Horizon3 has successfully raised $250 million in a Series E funding round, marking a significant milestone by tripling its valuation from $650 million to $2 billion since June 2025. The funding round was co-led by existing investors NightDragon and NEA, and saw participation from seven new investors and five returning backers.

Key Factors Driving Investor Confidence

The funding success underlines the confidence that venture capitalists and private investors have in Horizon3. A crucial element of this confidence is the company’s valuation, which, although based on assumptions, reflects financiers’ belief in Horizon3’s potential. This belief is anchored in the firm’s past performance, the expansive market it serves, and the assumption of continued growth.

Founded in 2019, Horizon3 was established on the premise that AI would revolutionize cybersecurity, as explained by Matt Hartley, the chief revenue officer. The firm identified a significant market opportunity in developing AI-driven solutions to counter AI-based cyber threats, addressing the inadequacies of traditional, human-centric defenses.

Innovative AI Solutions in Cybersecurity

Horizon3’s solution involves deploying AI-powered agents within clients’ IT networks. These agents simulate potential attacks by using the same AI techniques as would-be attackers, identifying network vulnerabilities, and providing detailed reports on how to fortify defenses. Hartley emphasizes the proactive nature of this approach: “Here’s how we beat your defenses, and most critically, here’s how you can fix those weaknesses.”

The company’s innovative approach has attracted over 7,000 customers across various sectors, including multinational banks, healthcare, and four Fortune 10 enterprises. Horizon3’s market reach is extensive, showing a 120% year-over-year growth in annual recurring revenue (ARR).

Future Growth and Strategic Investment

The continuous revenue growth and expanding customer base signal significant potential for Horizon3’s future. The additional capital will be directed towards enhancing go-to-market strategies and bolstering research and development efforts. Hartley explains that the funds will be used to build market capacity through partnerships with managed service providers (MSPs) and telecommunications companies.

Investment in R&D is crucial as AI threats evolve rapidly. “AI attacks and innovation in AI never stop,” says Hartley. “We will be using a substantial portion of the funding to accelerate R&D efforts, ensuring we remain at the forefront of AI threat mitigation for our customers and partners.”

This Series E funding round exemplifies the dynamic interplay between investors and companies in the tech sector, where the potential for future revenue drives investment decisions. Horizon3’s journey reflects the broader trends in equity investment, where strategic funding is pivotal for sustaining growth and innovation.
