Kontext Security Secures M for AI Runtime Control Platform

Kontext Security Secures $4M for AI Runtime Control Platform

Posted on September 24, 2026 By CWS

Kontext Security, a startup headquartered in Munich, Germany, has publicly launched with a successful $4 million funding round. The fundraising was spearheaded by 42CAP, along with investments from a16z CSX and HTGF. The company, co-founded by Jens Ernstberger and Michel Osswald, offers a unique runtime security platform to oversee and manage AI agent activities.

Innovative AI Agent Monitoring

Kontext Security’s platform operates by placing itself between AI agents and the systems they interact with. This strategic placement allows it to evaluate the agents’ actions in real-time, ensuring compliance with established security policies and assessing potential risks. By considering each agent’s identity, task, and the actions they wish to perform, the platform provides organizations with critical insights into AI agent behavior.

The platform enables companies to monitor agent activities, identify potential risks, and determine policy enforcement results. Once organizations are confident in the observed behaviors, they can activate enforcement measures to prevent unauthorized actions.

Advanced Security Features

Kontext Security offers more than just observation; it records each agent’s behavior and the associated decisions made by the platform, providing organizations with a comprehensive understanding of AI interactions. This detailed logging is crucial for both immediate security needs and long-term strategic planning.

Looking ahead, Kontext Security aims to expand its engineering team and further develop its runtime enforcement capabilities. This growth is essential to meet the increasing demand for robust AI security solutions as AI agents become more integrated into various operations.

Future of AI Control

CEO Jens Ernstberger highlights the necessity of a control mechanism for AI agents as they transition from text generation to software operation. Kontext Security bridges the gap by linking identity, task context, and policy to regulate agent actions before they occur. This proactive approach is vital for companies looking to maintain control over AI-driven processes.

In a rapidly evolving tech landscape, Kontext Security’s innovative approach to AI runtime control positions it as a key player in enhancing the security and reliability of AI technologies.
