A Kosovo citizen has acknowledged his role in a cybercrime operation as he pleaded guilty in a United States court. The case involves Ardit Kutleshi, aged 28, who was implicated in the establishment and management of the illicit Rydox marketplace.
Ardit Kutleshi was detained in December 2024, alongside two associates, Jetmir Kutleshi and Shpend Sokoli. Following his arrest, he was extradited to the US, where he faced charges related to his cyber activities.
Details of the Rydox Marketplace
Rydox, a notorious online platform, was dismantled in December 2024 after authorities secured a court order to seize its domain, www.Rydox.cc. In addition to the domain, law enforcement confiscated the marketplace’s servers and approximately $225,000 in cryptocurrency.
According to judicial records, Rydox served as a hub for cybercriminals to exchange stolen personal data, including payment card details, account credentials, and tools for cyber offenses. The site allegedly hosted over 321,000 illicit products, ranging from personal information to phishing kits and spamming utilities.
User Base and Transactions
At its peak, Rydox reportedly had around 18,000 active users before its shutdown. Between 2016 and 2024, more than 7,600 transactions were conducted on the marketplace, generating at least $232,000 in revenue for its operators.
Ardit Kutleshi admitted to charges of identity theft and conspiracy to commit money laundering. His sentencing is scheduled for February 9, 2027, where he could face substantial prison time.
