October 2026 Cybersecurity M&A: Key Deals Overview

Posted on November 2, 2026 By CWS

In October 2026, the cybersecurity sector witnessed a flurry of merger and acquisition activities, with 37 deals coming to light. This wave of transactions underscores the industry’s dynamic nature and the strategic shifts companies are making to bolster their offerings and market reach.

Significant Acquisitions in Cybersecurity

Among the noteworthy deals, Absolute Security’s acquisition of FirmGuard stands out. This move allows Absolute to enhance its endpoint security capabilities by integrating FirmGuard’s UEFI BIOS firmware security solutions. The acquisition aims to strengthen Absolute’s ability to manage firmware integrity and enforce compliance.

Moreover, Aikido Security, a prominent player in application security, has expanded its portfolio by acquiring OutKept and Cyberly. With these acquisitions, Aikido launched a new venture, Noon, focused on workforce security. OutKept and Cyberly bring expertise in phishing simulations and AI-based attack simulations, respectively, enhancing Aikido’s security awareness training offerings.

AI and Quantum Computing Advancements

In the realm of artificial intelligence, Anthropic’s agreement to acquire Opaque Systems marks a notable development. The deal involves Anthropic licensing Opaque’s confidential AI technology and onboarding key personnel, including the CEO and CTO. This acquisition reflects Anthropic’s ambition to deepen its AI capabilities.

On another front, IonQ has made a strategic move by agreeing to acquire Elisity, a zero trust security firm. This acquisition, valued at up to $1.3 billion, will allow IonQ to integrate quantum cryptography with Elisity’s IdentityGraph platform, enhancing security through least-privilege access enforcement.

Broadening Cybersecurity Horizons

Further illustrating the consolidation trend, Proofpoint’s acquisition of Varonis for approximately $6.3 billion highlights a focus on data security enhancements. This merger intends to create a comprehensive platform for safeguarding sensitive information and managing access, a critical need as AI adoption grows.

Additionally, several other strategic acquisitions occurred, including Cohere’s intent to acquire AISLE, Hex-Rays’ acquisition of HexAI, and various other deals that broaden companies’ technological and operational capabilities.

The cybersecurity landscape continues to evolve rapidly, with these M&A activities exemplifying how companies are striving to address emerging security challenges and leverage advanced technologies. As these deals progress, they are expected to reshape the industry, enhancing capabilities and driving innovation.
