Chainstack Cyber Breach Compromises Customer Data

Chainstack Cyber Breach Compromises Customer Data

Posted on November 3, 2026 By CWS

Blockchain infrastructure provider Chainstack has disclosed a recent cyber attack compromising parts of its infrastructure. The breach, identified as part of a larger AI-driven attack campaign, involved unauthorized access through a third-party component. The company detected the breach and has taken measures to secure its systems.

Details of the Breach

Chainstack reported that the attacker infiltrated a development environment on October 26, 2026, escalating access to certain production environments. The intrusion was discovered and blocked on October 31, 2026. The attack exposed a database containing sensitive customer information, including organization and account holder names, email addresses, and password hashes.

Additionally, systems containing node credentials were accessed. Although there is no evidence of data being read, Chainstack advises customers to rotate credentials as a precaution. Users are also encouraged to regenerate platform API keys, update passwords, and remain vigilant against phishing attempts.

Similar Incidents and Impact

Simultaneously, API platform WorkOS reported a security incident involving the same AI framework, ARTEX, affecting its GTM systems. The breach did not impact production systems or customer platform data but did expose business contact details and operational metadata. These developments highlight the increasing use of AI agents in orchestrating targeted attacks.

Chainalysis, a blockchain analysis firm, also experienced a security threat from an external actor using aggressive techniques to access systems. As a precaution, the company has temporarily taken certain products offline while monitoring for suspicious activity.

Industry-Wide Implications

The rising trend of AI-powered attacks necessitates enhanced security measures and quicker response strategies. Organizations are advised to strengthen their defenses against potential exploitation of vulnerabilities such as exposed applications and stolen credentials. The breaches underscore the importance of timely remediation and system-wide monitoring to detect and mitigate threats efficiently.

The Dutch Institute for Vulnerability Disclosure (DIVD) is another entity affected by ARTEX, suffering a breach exploiting zero-day flaws in an open-source ticketing system. This incident allowed attackers to escalate privileges and exfiltrate data, further illustrating the pervasive threat posed by advanced cyber tactics.

As cyber threats evolve, companies must remain proactive in securing their infrastructures and protecting sensitive data. Continuous monitoring and rapid action are essential to safeguard against future breaches and ensure business continuity.
