Latest Android Update Fixes Zero-Day and 123 Vulnerabilities

Latest Android Update Fixes Zero-Day and 123 Vulnerabilities

Posted on June 2, 2026 By CWS

Google has released a new Android update, which aims to bolster device security by patching a total of 124 vulnerabilities. Among these, a zero-day vulnerability, identified as CVE-2025-48595, has been actively exploited in targeted attacks. Described as a high-severity privilege escalation issue, this vulnerability affects the Android Framework component.

Details of the Zero-Day Exploit

The zero-day vulnerability CVE-2025-48595 is reportedly being exploited in a limited manner, as per Google’s advisory. Although specific details about the attacks remain scarce, it is known that commercial spyware vendors play a significant role in developing such sophisticated exploits aimed at Android devices. These vendors primarily market their tools to governmental bodies, and Google’s security teams frequently uncover these threats.

Other Vulnerabilities Addressed

In addition to the zero-day fix, the update addresses 18 vulnerabilities with a ‘critical’ severity rating, impacting various components including the framework, system, and Qualcomm’s proprietary parts. These vulnerabilities could lead to privilege escalation and denial of service (DoS) attacks. The remaining vulnerabilities have been labeled as ‘high severity’, affecting systems and components from companies like Imagination Technologies, MediaTek, Unisoc, and Qualcomm.

Many of these vulnerabilities can be leveraged for privilege escalation and DoS attacks, with a few posing risks of information disclosure. Notably, the vulnerability CVE-2026-0059 within the System component poses a remote code execution threat.

Implications and Future Outlook

The recent update underscores the ongoing battle against cyber threats targeting Android devices. It highlights the importance of keeping devices updated to mitigate potential risks. As spyware vendors continue to innovate, the collaboration between tech companies and their security researchers becomes crucial in preemptively identifying and neutralizing these exploits.

Looking forward, users are encouraged to regularly update their devices to benefit from the latest security enhancements. This proactive approach is vital in safeguarding personal data and ensuring a secure mobile experience amidst the evolving digital landscape.
