Asymptote Labs has successfully raised $5.5 million in seed funding, a strategic move aimed at advancing their infrastructure for runtime control and visibility over enterprise AI agents. This funding round was spearheaded by Tower Research Ventures, with additional investments from Lytical Ventures, 1984 Ventures, and South Park Commons.
Funding to Drive Product and Market Expansion
The influx of capital will be channeled towards product development, expanding engineering capabilities, and enhancing go-to-market strategies. The company, founded by Justin D’Souza (CEO) and Shukan Shah (CTO), both former security architects at Doppel, is focused on overcoming the challenges security teams face in monitoring AI agents interacting with sensitive corporate data.
Introducing Beacon: A Core Component
Central to Asymptote’s solution is Beacon, an open source telemetry layer that standardizes activity across more than 20 different agent harnesses, such as Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code. This telemetry is integrated into a unified data model, extending the OpenTelemetry framework. By doing so, it provides a reliable foundation upon which a commercial enterprise platform operates, securing real-time operations.
Real-Time Security for AI Operations
The commercial platform built on Beacon intercepts ongoing activities to enforce policy guardrails, both at the prompt and execution levels, effectively guiding agents away from unsafe actions and preemptively blocking risky behavior. This proactive approach addresses the gap in current infrastructure required to manage AI agents, as highlighted by D’Souza.
“AI agents are becoming a new operational layer within companies, yet the necessary infrastructure for their management is lacking,” D’Souza explained. He emphasized the growing value of runtime data as companies integrate thousands of agents into their operations.
Related developments in the AI security landscape include Hadrian’s $40 million raise for an autonomous offensive security platform, Harmonic Security’s $50 million investment in workforce AI protection, and Rein Security’s $25 million funding to guard AI agents at runtime.
The future appears promising for Asymptote Labs as they continue to innovate in securing AI agent operations, addressing critical gaps in enterprise security infrastructure.
