Censys Secures $70M to Boost Internet Intelligence

Posted on March 31, 2026 By CWS

On Tuesday, internet intelligence firm Censys announced the successful acquisition of $70 million in strategic capital. This investment comes as a significant boost to the company’s initiatives in product advancement and international growth.

Investment Details and Strategic Partners

The funding round includes a $40 million Series D equity investment led by Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital. Key contributors also include Decibel Partners, Greylock Partners, GV, and Intel Capital, alongside an additional $30 million in debt financing. This latest financial backing brings Censys’ total venture capital to over $149 million.

The fresh capital will primarily focus on propelling product innovation and supporting Censys’ recent initiative to expand its internet intelligence platform globally. This expansion aims to enhance the platform’s capabilities in providing a comprehensive overview of global internet infrastructure.

Core Capabilities and Security Enhancements

Censys delivers a robust and continuously updated global map of internet infrastructure, vital for security and threat intelligence teams. The platform is designed to aid in managing exposure and responding to potential risks effectively.

A key feature of the Censys platform is its focus on attack surface management. This enables organizations to detect, monitor, and prioritize risks associated with their internet-facing assets in real time, which is crucial for reducing exposure to potential attacks.

Additionally, the platform supports threat hunting and proactive incident response, allowing teams to track threats, defend against exposures, and safeguard critical assets more efficiently.

Leadership and Future Directions

Zakir Durumeric, founder and CEO of Censys, emphasized the transformative impact of AI on security operations. He noted, “AI’s success hinges on the quality and timeliness of the data it processes. Censys is at the forefront of providing this vital intelligence to scale AI effectively across the globe.”

Durumeric added that the new investment will expedite Censys’ innovation efforts and accelerate its global outreach, positioning the company to lead the evolution of AI-driven security solutions.

As Censys continues to expand its platform, the broader security community anticipates significant advancements in managing internet infrastructure risks and improving overall cybersecurity resilience.
