Microsoft Resolves SharePoint Zero-Day and 160 More Flaws

Microsoft Resolves SharePoint Zero-Day and 160 More Flaws

Posted on April 14, 2026 By CWS

Microsoft has addressed 165 security vulnerabilities in its latest Patch Tuesday release, including a significant zero-day flaw in SharePoint that has been actively exploited. The vulnerability, identified as CVE-2026-32201, poses a spoofing risk and has been rated with a CVSS score of 6.5, labeled as ‘important’ by Microsoft.

Details of the SharePoint Vulnerability

The SharePoint Server issue arises from improper input validation, which could allow unauthorized attackers to perform spoofing actions over a network. This could potentially enable them to access and modify sensitive information. While details about the perpetrators exploiting CVE-2026-32201 remain unclear, Microsoft suggests it may be linked with other system vulnerabilities.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has added CVE-2026-32201 to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, with federal agencies instructed to implement patches by April 28. SharePoint vulnerabilities frequently appear in this catalog, reflecting their potential risk if left unaddressed.

Additional Vulnerabilities Addressed

Beyond CVE-2026-32201, Microsoft’s April 2026 security updates include 19 vulnerabilities marked as ‘exploitation more likely.’ Among these is CVE-2026-33825, a privilege-escalation issue in Microsoft Defender, which was publicly disclosed before the patch release.

Additional areas with vulnerabilities that could be exploited include Windows components like Boot Loader, Active Directory, and Remote Desktop, among others. These vulnerabilities underline the importance of applying updates promptly to maintain system security.

Context and Industry Impact

This update marks Microsoft’s second-largest Patch Tuesday, following only the October 2025 record. The breadth of vulnerabilities addressed highlights ongoing cybersecurity challenges. Alongside Microsoft, Adobe has also released fixes for over 50 vulnerabilities across 11 products, emphasizing the criticality of regular updates across the software landscape.

In conclusion, organizations are advised to promptly apply these patches to safeguard against potential exploits. As cyber threats continue to evolve, maintaining updated systems is essential for protecting sensitive data and ensuring business continuity.
