RemoteThreat has officially launched with significant financial backing, securing $7 million in pre-seed funding from notable investors Osage University Partners and DataTribe. This initial funding supports the development and expansion of their innovative offensive operations platform, designed to enhance cybersecurity measures across various sectors.
Leadership and Strategic Guidance
The company was established by Chris Thompson, who serves as the CEO, and Shawn Jones, the CTO. Both founders bring extensive experience from their leadership roles in IBM’s X-Force red team. Strategic guidance is further strengthened by the involvement of the Nakasone Group, a consultancy led by retired US Army General Paul M. Nakasone.

The O/C/O Platform from RemoteThreat is specifically crafted for offensive cyber operations, targeting enterprise and critical infrastructure red teams, as well as U.S. government mission teams and trusted defense partners. It integrates eight interconnected systems, including mission planning, command and control (C2), and AI assistants, among others.
This platform facilitates seamless cross-operating system functionality, supporting in-memory execution and a customizable C2 system, which can complement existing team infrastructures. It offers a robust suite of tools for operators to combine payloads and post-exploitation applications, with advanced evasion techniques tailored to diverse target environments.
Operational Efficiency and AI Integration
RemoteThreat’s platform allows for operations to be conducted manually or with AI assistance, and even enables task automation through dedicated workflows. Operations are governed by strict policies, approvals, and no-strike controls, ensuring actions remain controlled and traceable. Operators can manage complex tasks with greater efficiency and precision, a necessity as cyber threats evolve in complexity and speed.
Chris Thompson emphasized the importance of their platform in bridging current capability gaps, stating, “Our offensive cyber capabilities must outpace the adversary.
