Socket Secures $60 Million, Reaches $1 Billion Valuation

Posted on May 21, 2026 By CWS

Socket, a leader in supply chain protection, has successfully raised $60 million in its Series C funding round. This latest financial boost elevates the company’s valuation to an impressive $1 billion and increases its total funding to $125 million. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the California-based firm, which specializes in safeguarding enterprise products from malicious open source dependencies.

Investment Led by Thrive Capital

The funding round was spearheaded by Thrive Capital and included contributions from prominent investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Abstract Ventures, and Capital One Ventures. These investments underscore the growing confidence in Socket’s ability to address the complexities of supply chain security.

Socket, founded in 2020, has developed a robust platform that leverages artificial intelligence and human expertise to detect and neutralize potential threats within open source software. By focusing on AI-assisted analysis coupled with human verification, the company effectively identifies and prioritizes the patching of vulnerabilities that could compromise enterprise security.

Enhancing Security Offerings

The newly acquired funds are set to enhance Socket’s existing product lineup. The company plans to improve its Socket Firewall, a tool designed to prevent harmful packages from infiltrating developer environments and CI pipelines. Additionally, Socket intends to expand its certified patches, which address vulnerabilities that have already been exploited.

Beyond these improvements, Socket is broadening its protection to include browser extensions, code editor extensions, AI tools, and MCP servers. This strategic expansion reflects the company’s commitment to comprehensive supply chain security in an era where software development is increasingly reliant on external sources.

Future Outlook and Industry Impact

Socket’s workforce currently consists of about 100 employees, and the company is looking to grow its team to support new product development initiatives. The company’s founder and CEO, Feross Aboukhadijeh, highlights the transformative role of AI in software development, emphasizing how Socket helps maintain visibility and security in a rapidly evolving tech landscape.

As the demand for robust cybersecurity measures continues to rise, Socket’s innovative solutions and strategic investment decisions position it as a pivotal player in the industry. With its recent funding, Socket is poised to further its mission of securing the software supply chain against ever-evolving threats.
