Adobe ColdFusion Flaws Allow Code Execution Attacks

Adobe ColdFusion Flaws Allow Code Execution Attacks

Posted on July 1, 2026 By CWS

Adobe has announced a critical security update for its ColdFusion 2025 and 2023 versions, addressing multiple vulnerabilities that pose severe risks such as arbitrary code execution and privilege escalation. These flaws are rated with a high priority, requiring immediate action from administrators to safeguard their systems.

Priority Security Patches Released

The update pertains to ColdFusion 2025 Update 9 and prior versions, as well as ColdFusion 2023 Update 20 and earlier. Adobe has introduced ColdFusion 2025 Update 10 and ColdFusion 2023 Update 21 to mitigate these vulnerabilities. Immediate upgrading to these versions is highly recommended to prevent potential exploitation.

Critical Vulnerabilities Detailed

The disclosed vulnerabilities have been assigned a CVSS score of 10.0, indicating the highest level of severity. These include flaws like unrestricted file upload and improper input validation, which could allow attackers to execute arbitrary code remotely. Notably, these vulnerabilities could enable attackers to gain control over affected ColdFusion servers.

Some of the most severe vulnerabilities include CVE-2026-48276 and CVE-2026-48283, related to unrestricted file uploads, and CVE-2026-48277, CVE-2026-48281, and CVE-2026-48316, which involve improper input validation. Additionally, CVE-2026-48282 poses a risk through path traversal, facilitating arbitrary code execution.

Additional Security Concerns

Beyond remote code execution, the update addresses other significant vulnerabilities that can be exploited in combination for further compromise. CVE-2026-48313, with a CVSS score of 9.3, enables arbitrary file reads, potentially exposing sensitive configurations and credentials.

Furthermore, privilege escalation vulnerabilities such as CVE-2026-48315 and CVE-2026-48314, along with a reflected XSS issue (CVE-2026-48307) and an SSRF vulnerability (CVE-2026-48285), highlight the critical nature of this update. While Adobe has not detected active exploits, the potential for abuse necessitates swift patching.

Administrators are advised to patch their systems promptly while also updating to the latest JDK/JRE, utilizing the latest MySQL Java connector, and following security configuration best practices as outlined in Adobe’s Lockdown Guide.
