Microsoft Teams Meeting Access Issues After Edge Update

Microsoft Teams Meeting Access Issues After Edge Update

Posted on April 24, 2026 By CWS

Microsoft is currently addressing an issue that is preventing certain users from accessing Microsoft Teams meetings on Windows platforms. This problem arose after a recent update to the Microsoft Edge browser, impacting many organizations, including those utilizing NHSmail systems.

Edge Update Causes Teams Access Problems

Following the latest Microsoft Edge release, a regression has been identified, affecting a subset of users attempting to join Teams meetings. The issue primarily occurs when users try to enter scheduled meetings or use links to join, which are common methods in corporate collaboration.

Microsoft’s advisory highlights the problem’s root cause: a regression in Edge that disrupts Teams meeting access. This incident, labeled as TM1288497, is affecting numerous organizations, causing significant inconvenience for those dependent on Teams for daily operations.

Impact on Organizations and Users

NHS organizations, tracking this issue under INC46806917, are among the affected parties. Microsoft has noted that as the investigation progresses, the extent of the impact might change. Users experiencing these issues may find themselves unable to join meetings, which could severely impact business communications.

In response, Microsoft suggests a temporary solution: restarting the Microsoft Teams client, which can often restore meeting access. Both IT administrators and users are advised to implement this measure while awaiting a comprehensive fix.

Future Updates and Mitigation Strategies

As of March 23, 2026, Microsoft’s engineering team is analyzing diagnostic data and reviewing recent service changes that could be contributing to this problem. They have promised to provide a timeline for further actions when available, with the next update scheduled for April 23, 2026, at 6:00 PM UTC.

Organizations relying on Teams for critical functions should inform their staff about the workaround to minimize disruptions. Meanwhile, IT teams are encouraged to keep track of updates via the Microsoft 365 admin center and NHSmail service alerts.
