Oracle E-Business Suite Faces Exploitation of RCE Vulnerability

Oracle E-Business Suite Faces Exploitation of RCE Vulnerability

Posted on October 28, 2026 By CWS

Cybersecurity experts have identified exploit attempts targeting a newly patched critical flaw in Oracle’s E-Business Suite (EBS). The threat, identified as CVE-2026-101767 with a CVSS score of 9.8, pertains to the Oracle Application Object Library. The vulnerability was patched by Oracle in their latest Critical Patch Update just last week.

Unpacking the Oracle EBS Vulnerability

This vulnerability was discovered by security researchers Brandon Peterson, Jimi Sebree, and Noah King from Horizon3.ai, who reported it to Oracle in July 2026. Described as an unauthenticated SQL injection flaw, it can be exploited to achieve remote code execution, posing a serious risk to systems running the vulnerable software.

According to Defused Cyber, who observed attempts to exploit the flaw, attackers can leverage network access to the Thin Client Framework (TCF) servlet, allowing them to execute SQL commands as the APPS database user and ultimately run operating system commands under the EBS application account’s permissions.

Potential Impact on Enterprise Systems

The implications of exploiting CVE-2026-101767 are severe. Successful attacks can lead to unauthorized access and modification of sensitive data, such as financial, payroll, and HR records. The extent of the impact depends on the permissions associated with the compromised EBS application account.

Horizon3.ai cautions that while internet-exposed EBS deployments are at a higher risk, internal systems are not immune. Attackers who infiltrate a network segment or compromised system can still exploit the vulnerability if they can reach the susceptible servlet.

Mitigation Measures and Recommendations

To mitigate these risks, it is crucial for users to apply the latest patches immediately. For those unable to patch, recommended workarounds include removing the vulnerable servlet from the URL firewall allowlist, restricting the web tier to trusted networks, and monitoring for signs of compromise.

Indicators of compromise shared by Horizon3.ai include unauthenticated POST requests to the vulnerable servlet, subsequent backend database activity, and unexpected files or command executions via the Concurrent Manager.

Oracle EBS vulnerabilities have been a target for attackers, with similar critical flaws being exploited over the past year. It is imperative for organizations to stay vigilant and ensure their systems are secured against such threats.
