Android’s November Update Fixes Over 200 Security Flaws

Android’s November Update Fixes Over 200 Security Flaws

Posted on November 3, 2026 By CWS

Google has released a comprehensive security update for Android, addressing more than 200 vulnerabilities, including several critical ones. The update, announced on Monday, targets various components of the operating system, enhancing overall device security.

Key Components Affected

The initial phase of the update, identified by the security patch level 2026-11-01, rectifies 119 security issues across Android runtime, Framework, and System components. The Framework was notably affected, with 65 vulnerabilities patched, while System addressed 53 flaws. A significant information disclosure issue within Android runtime was also resolved.

Among the vulnerabilities, the most serious was located in the Framework component, recognized as CVE-2026-58868. This critical flaw could allow remote code execution without the need for additional execution privileges or user interaction, posing a significant security threat.

Additional System Vulnerabilities

Alongside the Framework issues, the System component saw patches for critical-severity vulnerabilities, including remote code execution (RCE), elevation of privilege (EoP), and denial-of-service (DoS) threats. Google proactively addressed 17 of these issues through Google Play system updates before the official monthly patch rollout.

Further Patch Details

The update’s second phase, marked by the 2026-11-05 security patch level, fixes 97 vulnerabilities spread across Kernel, Arm, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek, Unisoc, and Qualcomm components. While most addressed high-severity issues, several critical vulnerabilities were also resolved in Bluetooth, pKVM, HID, MediaTek modem, and a proprietary Qualcomm component.

Google assures that devices updated with the 2026-11-05 patch level or later are protected against all identified vulnerabilities. Additionally, separate security bulletins were released for Android XR and Wear OS, addressing high-severity flaws in their respective Framework and System components.

With these updates, Google continues to enhance Android’s security landscape, ensuring users’ devices are safeguarded against potential threats. As cyber threats evolve, timely updates like these are crucial in maintaining robust security for Android users worldwide.
